What is PeTAL Connect?

PeTAL Connect is the flagship platform of Personalised Teaching and Learning (PeTAL) Consultancy — an educational consultancy dedicated to empowering Caribbean and international professionals through online learning, networking, consultancy opportunities and sharing of professional development resources.

While other platforms focus on broad professional networking, PeTAL specifically supports Caribbean professionals and consultants with access to regional and international consultancy listings, digital learning content, and curated resources. It also includes a virtual muster point, where users can discuss and/or receive real-time updates regarding community topics and events (e.g., hurricanes) and engage in sector-specific discussions and opportunities relevant to the Caribbean.

Put another way, PeTAL Connect isn’t just another job board, social networking or learning platform — it’s a specialised ecosystem tailored to:

  • Professionals & Consultants
  • Educators (tertiary, TVET, online facilitators, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) trainers)
  • Individual Contractors (subject matter experts, freelancers, independent service providers)

This intersection creates a dynamic professional development hub designed for those who deliver, manage, or seek consultancy and training opportunities — especially across the Caribbean and Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

PeTAL Connect offers four membership tiers designed to support different levels of engagement and access:
  • Free Plan: Basic networking, profile creation, and access to some resources.
  • Standard Plan: Includes online courses, selected professional resources, and access to curated opportunities and updates.
  • Educator Plan: Designed for educators, trainers, instructional designers, and education professionals seeking enhanced engagement, collaboration, and professional development features.
  • Premium Plan: Unlocks full access to advanced learning content, enhanced community participation, curated opportunities, job alerts, and priority updates.
Educator Plan Verification Note: PeTAL Connect reserves the right to request reasonable proof of educator status to maintain the integrity of the Educator membership tier. This may include a professional or institutional email address, staff ID or other relevant documentation.
Absolutely. PeTAL uses modern encryption and complies with global privacy practices. Your data is protected by secure systems and only shared with third-party services that support our platform (e.g., payment processors). We never sell your personal information.
You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time by visiting the “My Account” settings tab. Upgrades are available instantly, and cancellations apply at the end of your billing cycle.

The Educator membership is available to individuals who work in education, training, instructional design, workforce development, or related professional learning roles. This may include teachers, lecturers, tutors, trainers, academic staff, curriculum developers, instructional designers, and education consultants. PeTAL may request reasonable verification where necessary.

Our team verifies and curates consultancy listings and opportunities that align with the needs of Caribbean professionals. Listings include remote/online, short-term, and international opportunities across education, health, environmental policy, ICT, and development sectors.
Yes. PeTAL’s features including job alerts and group discussions require users to create a profile to personalize content and protect the integrity of the professional community.
Yes. PeTAL welcomes global members, especially those with an interest in Caribbean development or regional consultancy. International experts can contribute, network, and collaborate with Caribbean professionals.

Premium members gain access to toolkits and templates for:
– Consultant CVs and pitch decks
– Interview preparation
– Funding directories
– Sample consultancy agreements
– Proposal writing

A virtual muster point (VMP) is a digital space or online feature where members of a community, team, or organisation can “gather” (check in) in the event of a major disruption or hazard (e.g. a hurricane, flood, or earthquake). VMPs involve personnel accountability and automated check-ins rather than physical assembly. It borrows the concept from physical muster points used in emergency evacuations, but applies it in an online or distributed context, especially for remote teams and virtual communities like PeTAL Connect.

PeTAL Connect is designed as a curated professional environment that promotes meaningful collaboration, focused dialogue, and respectful engagement. ConnectED Community groups are intentionally structured to ensure that discussions remain relevant, constructive, and aligned with professional development goals.

To maintain quality and clarity across the platform:

  • Groups are guided and subject to review
  • Naming conventions follow structured policies to ensure accuracy and professionalism
  • Content must align with PeTAL’s professional standards
  • Irrelevant, misleading, or excessive promotional content is restricted

  • Members are expected to engage respectfully and constructively

All card transactions are processed through PCI-DSS compliant third-party gateways. PeTAL does not store credit card numbers. All transmissions are encrypted using SSL/TLS technology.

Becoming a PeTAL Ambassador is a great way to strengthen your professional network while gaining access to exclusive benefits on PeTAL Connect. Ambassadors are active members who help promote the platform by inviting new members or serving as references for professionals interested in joining our consultancy or learning communities.

Qualification Criteria
You can qualify to become an Ambassador by completing any one of the following:

  • Refer or verify at least 5 new members who complete their profile.
  • Host or co-facilitate at least one e-course or webinar on PeTAL Connect.
  • Lead or coordinate a group activity, such as a regional circle, community discussion, or mentorship session.

We’re excited to grow with you! You can express your interest in becoming an Ambassador during registration or via the Ambassador Application Form (coming soon).

Note: We encourage Ambassadors to maintain an active presence on the platform to remain eligible for ongoing perks.
